The Verdict Is In, Betrayed by The Mainstream Media Agenda…Or Fooled?

I must admit this point my friends,  I am at a complete loss for what passes as Reportage in these current times.  I understand we all have our leanings and biases, but at this point,  this is bordering on the preposterous with a healthy dose of obsurdity.  Believe me I mean no disrespect to our journalism community but attempting to either view, read or listen to any form of ” Mainstream Media ” reporting has now surpassed the pain in which I can endure.  For better or worse there is not even a pretense at objectivity let alone true clarity  to which  any thoughtful observer can divine a healthy conclusion.  The attitude and shear condescension that I feel being directed towards us citizens, well needless to say it goes beyond infuriating my sensibilities and I am sure many of you have similar thoughts.  I shy away from using terms such as propaganda as I honestly believe that is not the intent of the reporting.  I could however be somewhat naive. I do believe a reporters agenda now supercedes their primary task which is reporting events as they occur.   I herewith steer you to observe any episode of news on, let us say MSNBC who is/was owned by GE, whose CEO also works for our President in the post of job czar  and whose company reaps billions from various government contracts and credits. Not so easy as it sounds this, but just sit back and wait and wait until they interview what they might call an opponent of the administration.  Instant venom and fireworks ensue.  Something to behold.  Then wait for a friend of the administration and you will in effect see a birthday party on display with hugs and kisses for all. Would you expect anything different from an organization so closely tied with a political party? One who receives so many benefits?  Does Crony Capitalsim ring a bell? You might ponder what is the point of this silly little exercise and I would reply that it is of the utmost import. It is basically this belief that only an informed citizenry can reach and make proper decisions for themselves and families and country.  If allowed to be deceived or kept in the dark,  then unscrupulous types can and will run roughshod over our existense. They will take courses of action detrimental to us all, yet  beneficial to themselves and need I point out their respective reelections. A free press was thought so all important by our Founders that it was written and protected extensively, witness the First Amendment of the Constitution.  It’s ultimate purpose was to serve the good of the people and to protect all from potential abuse and tyranny by  our leaders.  It is a serious matter, one not to be shoved aside in my opinion as a crank objection. My suggestion to all in an effort to avoid deceit and confusion is to utilize your minds and absorb all the knowledge one can in the hopes of not being duped by anyone, ever. Draw your own conclusions and always be on alert.  Remember the grain of salt dosage.

Steve Jobs vs. President Obama…. An Albeit Humble, Attempted Comparison..

Good day my friends.  As to the former well obviously he is a visionary.  As to the latter well obviously he is not. For these purposes, I have discounted any political affiliation and party labels,  so as to achieve the bottom line comparison I am attempting without any form of bias and base my admittedly  unscientific  results on all  I have witnessed  firsthand. First to Mr. Jobs.  He does not say much, but boy can he deliver a product that the world wants and must have.  Secondly to President Obama.  He says much which at first blush sounds agreeable to most  but upon reflection, do not appear to be realistic and border on meaningless.  Results are what truly matter and Mr. Jobs now has the 2nd largest market cap firm on the planet at approx. $400 Billion.   He consistently surprises as well as delivers.  He is obviously a man of actions as opposed to words alone.  Most formidable and admirable. As to President Obama, he seems a decent man but his actions don’t square with his words.  Truth be told, the numbers don’t lie. With all respect to the President, I believe he is unsure of what it is which makes an economy hum and no doubt those who advise him are equally grabbing at the theoretical.   Harken back to February ’09 if you will.  We were told if the stimulus package where to pass, jobs abundantly would be created as VP Biden specifically stated that “1500 shovel ready projects” were part of the plan.  As the President himself stated recently with a half grin, ” they were not really shovel ready ”  The bitter irony was his jobs Czar, Jeff Imelt was laughing.  He of GE fame who has exported some 120,000 jobs offshore himsef in the past decade.  Whereas GE once had approx. 300,000 U.S. employees, they now count approx 135,000. I doubt Mr. Jobs would hire Mr. Imelt as the performance of GE stock under his reign is off about 60%    I could go on endlessy with comparisons but I believe the best solution is to put Mr. Jobs in charge of the budget mess with his talented crew.  I would pay them a $100 Billion bonus for the right plan if enacted and I would venture a guess that it would be accomplished prudently and quickly.  Let all the politicians take a prolonged vacation, and this would be one hell of a start.  Best.

Be Ever Vigilant, on Independence Day…

What a true blessing the 4th of July is for us all.  One of my fears  given the fast pace of life, the daily struggle, the new toys and most of all the comfort and convenience in which we are now accustomed to, lead many to forget how Providential that day is.  Our Founders gave life, limb and fortune on a gamble centered on FREEDOM.This is something I shall never forget and unfortunately, I get a feeling of revulsion( perhaps to harsh a word, perhaps not ) when I try to compare our present day leaders with those from the past.  Forgive a moment of cynicsm, but I get an eerie feeling that many of my fellow citizens do not recognize the sacrifice or worse still,  how incredibly benevolent/fortuitous  our 235 years have been for the Planet as a whole.  Yes I know we are not perfect and our leaders have blundered from time to time.  But name me one country, who upon winning a major war, went back with manpower and funding to assist in the rebuilding of the losing State.  It has not happened until The USA existed.  But this is not the point I am after today.   I feel more than blessed just being born in this great place.  I had the opportunity many years ago to travel behind what was once known as ” The Iron Curtain”  My god, I was glad to get out alive as I was under constant surveillance and machine guns where everywhere.  Quite a scary ordeal.  Worse yet were my feelings for these poor citizens which could not leave.  I guess my point is we just don’t know how damn good we have it.   Yet we want more.  I see our priorities out of kilter. I see hubris, arrogance and a major sense of entitlement however unearned it might be.   I see people virtually oblivious to the happenings around them and a happy political class only willingly wanting to oblige them, as the sheep veer off towards oblivion.  This Freedom is to be cherished as it is beyond precious, beyond rubies.  Lest we forget and sit back and watch the beaurocrats run roughshod over us all and of course the inane consequences they lead us to.  Never forget the words of a wise founder, Benjamin Franklin, ” those who give a little freedom for security, will find they will get neither”  How prescient was this man?   He could not have been more right .  I know there is still ample time, but we must say enough and keep remembering who the true leaders of this Nation are.  We the people…
