Democrats Lie, Republicans Lie. Which Is It?

Well now that the debates are done, we get down to the serious spin or lies if you will which progresses apace. Both parties claim victory and their sycophants in the media do their best to spin and continue to do the bidding of their favored candidate in hopes of altering what we have witnessed. All in all I find it disgusting. I do not need anyone to tell me what to think vis a vis what I just watched and heard. Condescending and elitist snobs that they are.

What is the average part time observer to make of this hash? I have found most swallow the spin without any hard intellectual thought. Many react emotionally or simply side with the R or D candidate they prefer. I have also found by taking time and reviewing facts, it makes it much easier to know which person is lying. As to the media pundits, they can edit a clip and make you believe anything. Watch for those charlatans. They are devious as their ideology tends to blind them and they also are somewhat delusional.

We all know politicians can bend the truth. In fact many do not know what truth means. They  tend to be self serving and likely to speak any words which might enhance their reelection. Whoppers galore as well as the notorious gaffe are ever present. As a matter of fact and not to pick on VP Biden, but just today he claimed candidate Romney is proposing a $500 TRILLION tax cut for 120,000 rich people. Funny guy that Joe.

The point is no one is perfect in spite of what Chris Matthews tries to tell you. And I am proud  to say, no politician ever made my thigh tickle. Yet it is still hard for me to believe and witness massive cheering towards a candidate that just spewed some incoherent babble and the crowd shouts as if witnessing the Beatles for the first time. Most puzzling indeed. I have only cheered one politician in my six odd decades. In fact I don’t see the appeal personally, but I defer to the sensibility of each. I suppose in my case it is just that I have not seen a true statesman in so long that anything short of that is not recognized in my eye as a leader.

Then of course we have the so called Kool Aid drinkers. They believe anything claimed by the party they tend to favor. I find this most troublesome as politicians in question know this and take advantage of ones loyalty. I find it best to distrust all, and then verify. They also have a tendency to take as gospel the words of their favored pol regardless of merit or fact and simultaneously conclude the opponent is in fact a liar. Whether he/she is or not, is not even open to debate. I find this intellectually vapid. But nonetheless I see it daily.

The bottom line is the divide and conquer mentality which exists has certainly lived up to its name and it does not matter which side you prefer. In fact just today,  I find my self embroiled in witnessing a breakup of a 40 year friendship over differences of political opinion. Absolutely zero tolerance with any one whom disagrees with your point of view. I can’t even comprehend that attitude. Sorry team. I don’t get it. Can’t we still be friends? So much venom over which side lies more and see the divisions form. Unbelievable.

My suggested remedy is to be courteous always. It does not matter how disruptive the opponent gets, just stay calm and the facts will bear out. As facts can be manipulated to serve any purpose, it is incumbent on each of us to be intellectually honest and to do a bit of homework and try to learn how to discern a statesmen from a huckster. Perhaps it is my age or the general wisdom of the ages which ultimately bring light in to focus for me. I hope the wisdom will unfold for all of you. In the mean time, stay alert and vigilant and as always keep politicians at arms length.

Republicans Dumb, Democrats Genius. Yeah Right!

It seems my friends, every four years I am inundated with what I consider “spin”. Every Democrat running I am told, is the smartest person ever. It goes without saying that the Republican is the most stupid human imaginable. Really? Well of course it is a ridiculous assertion, but to hear the mainstream media having it’s say, well you can take it to the bank.

Smart, high IQ and or wisdom can be misleading. It can also be most subjective. To all the media spin meisters, I submit that you are not in a position to make such assertions and never have. As for me, I prefer one of wisdom any day. I know many stupid smart people. But I know nary a stupid wise man. Got it MSNBC? I keep searching for a logical or coherent statement from one of your stars, yet all I find are talking points and out of context statements being worked over to suit your agenda.

Oh yes we know Jimmy Carter had more nuance than Ronald Reagan.Or so we have been told repeatedly. I am sorry Rachel but you better take the blinders off as it is just not true. Fact: Score, Ronald Reagan huge victory, Jimmy Carter major disaster.  Of course returning to current times we hear the same refrain. Obama is the smartest human to ever live and Romney is a clown in a fancy suit. Lets see, can this be true? If I had to venture a guess I suppose I would say they are both moderately intelligent. But is intelligence what we seek in a leader? Not to me. I seek raw, experienced and a real world biography. A get the job done attitude. In other words, the IQ does not matter. The wisdom does. And on that note I see no contest. You decide for yourselves .

How would you say the VP candidates handled the debate recently? To me it appeared a draw. When you factor in the arrogant pomposity of VP buffoon er excuse me Biden, well Mr. Ryan served as the victor on points. The countless polls seem to confirm my prior statement. It is only the media and hard core leftists who saw it as a victory. If so, a pyrrhic one at that.

For it exposed the man with more gaffes to his record and some of the most ridiculous words I have ever heard. The demeaning and condescending tone were more than most reasonable people could handle. Bottom line, it was the most unbecoming scene of a VP since perhaps Spiro Agnew. The attempt to make up for the Obama loss was simply an embarrassment for all but the most partisan observer. But this is just old Joe as they tell us as a term of endearment. I think not. I see the same old Joe being his usual self and everything I expected.

But it is very easy to be a Democrat Politician and simultaneously very difficult to be a Republican Politician. You see friends, a Democrat simply has to promise goodies paid with other peoples money. Pretty simple. The Republicans are forced in to the role of being the adult and offer supervision. At least if we are not to completely bankrupt this nation. Therein lies the problem. People get used to the goodies and at the end of the day, will cheer for more of the same and the future be damned. So cheers to the demagogue.

I did get a kick out of the MSNBC stars whooping and hollering like those southern folk at a NASCAR event they so despise, at what in their minds was a decisive victory for Mr. Biden. It goes with out saying they are delusional partisans and I expected no less. I believe they enjoyed the pomposity and arrogance as they themselves are the same on a daily basis. They were looking in the mirror and liked what they saw. A vicious man willing to say anything as if that improves his position. Not very smart or Presidential to say the least. Diminish me with facts and I will concede. Blindly calling me names and perpetually smirking, well I will only call you a fool. Tis a pity this is the best this nation can muster in a time of need. Tis a bigger pity that people actually enjoy that childish behavior. And from a Vice President no less. A sense of foreboding I feel.

Who Is Looking Out For You? Definitely Not D.C.

As stated by this writer countless times, we must get over this fixation that Washington can solve our collective problems. They can’t as central planners around the world have discovered for centuries. There is no one smart enough to manage the trillions of actions and transactions which occur each year by people with varied interests and needs. But for some reason, citizens in this country and others seem to think the next President or Congressman will heal the sick and walk on water. Bullshi…..

We deserve the politicians we elect. How sad we elect con artists with pretty hair or a sopranos voice. I can attest to the fact that the combined brain power in DC barely edges out plant life or your every day vermin. So as I gaze on that “shiny city on a hill”, I see vermin infesting the body politic. Rich vermin that is. And lets not quibble over party distinctions. There are none. But they enrich themselves greatly and at our expense and of course utilize practices which would incarcerate any of us. Forget about insider trading on Wall Street. Congress puts them to shame. I suppose it is futile to mention influence peddling. That too is a jackpot for the elites.

Of course they condescend to us and treat us as mere servants. People wake up!. They work for us! They are supposed to be employees! What the hell happened? These are not great leaders as were our founding Fathers. Those men pledged their lives and monies and jeopardized being hung by the redcoats. Can you imagine the narcissism inherent in our current leaders allowing them to do same. I sure can’t as they are without question the most self indulgent and self centered leaders known to man. They get rich off of us and serve the bourgeoisie pablum and a few token slogans and the people bow down to kiss their rings. Repugnant indeed. In centuries past, leaders had real stones. My own namesake, King Leonidas died fighting with his men as did several leaders in history. By comparison, what we call leaders today are simply cowards. An embarrassing riches of cowards. Yet they try to appear dignified. I would not dignify the vast of them with shining my shoes. I would fear theft.

So there you have it. Selfish, greedy individuals who could not hold down a job at Walmart. Yet they rule like good old Fidel or some European Monarch.
My friends if you are taken in by this bunch and I do mean all of this bunch, I suggest a wake up call is needed. Perhaps a chat with your creator regards something about golden idols. These pinheads are not to be worshiped. How did we allow it to come to this? A weakened citizenry held hostage by snake oil salespeople. They certainly insult my intelligence daily and I am angered. But I am saddened as well that so many are taken in. Just read the Top Ten list and see how well our employees are doing for themselves vs. how well the average citizen has done since the recession began. Does not seem fair to me as the troubles all began with the ruthless bargaining our leaders conducted for their favored few. And now they turn to deceit to assign blame where it does not deserve to lay.  Now we all pay the price and they yield for themselves millions. By the way I hope you notice 70% of the Top Ten come from the left side of the aisle. So much for Republicans being the party of the rich. Both parties serve their benefactors and get rich as a result. Citizens be damned. I see no difference. I just hear a different script.

And I thought they cared about you. Only from their mouths if you choose to believe. Fakery at its best is all I can say. Stop listening to them. Start paying attention to what their actions yield. That is a good start as actions always speak volumes more than words. Especially when a serpent is speaking to you. These are not leaders. They are hucksters one and all. Abraham Lincoln was a leader. Let us find a few like him.

Whither Peace In The Middle East As Winter Approaches The Arab Spring?

The term “Arab Spring” was to mark a new beginning in the middle east. I recall President Obama warmly welcoming the turning of the tides not so long ago. Libya, Egypt and Syria where to be deemed as ground zero for a new freedom in the middle east, a new beginning coinciding with the feel of spring. Catchy phrase but has it born the fruit it was intended to? Watching the images transmitted from the region one can only answer with a resounding NO?

It seems as if overthrowing longstanding dictators who kept the hammer on it’s citizenry should have proven a success at least in theory. But it seems new regimes have taken root (apologies for all the spring puns) and they seem to be encouraging a more lethal and vocal anti American stance. Go figure.

But why is this the result? President Obama traveled the region and begged forgiveness. Now he is routinely burned in effigy. Moronic videos and cartoons are widely attributed for disrupting cultural sensibilities. And no doubt this does have a hand in the issue at large. But it certainly does not explain the massive eruption in violence.

Our Embassies are being destroyed. Our flag is burned daily. Our foreign diplomats are being killed in horrific fashion. Again I ask why? It appears the recent events have been in planning for quite some time. Payback it is said, for the taking of Osama Bin Laden.

One can make an argument that our historic policies to the region have been less than appropriate. One can also state we are a pretty good partner. We of course stopped the genocide in Bosnia. Not to mention freeing the people from the tyrant and brutal killer Saddam Hussein. Of course we also let down the people of Iran and the uprising in which thousands where killed by their own government while we watched. But on balance we have attempted to aid in peace negotiations and of course dropped in billions of dollars through aid and of course oil dollars to an oil rich region.

I find the burning of our flag and the killing of our people sheer hypocrisy. This is not what you do to those whom you have received assistance from. Put aside the bad policies and accept the good policies and at the margin, we have been a friend. So is it our strong support of Israel? Likely it plays a major role, but even Israel has given much and pays a heavy toll and in reality, Jews and Arabs get along fairly well in Israel on a daily basis.

I submit the biggest nuisance is the cultural differences. And the religious implications are certainly difficult to ascertain. After all if Christianity is as stated in the bible, then all things are changed in the middle east. I submit this is frightening for any religion to contemplate on any continent. But this is about more than religion and Israel. The dictators use this common ploy to rile the people and shift blame away from themselves  and their corrupt regimes and towards a perceived  common enemy ie. the west. But in the end, terrorism and flag burning serve no useful purpose. Does anyone out their have an answer? If so the Nobel people want to hear from you. As does the rest of the world.

My suggestion would be to leave Israel alone in peace. Also to elect leaders given an opportunity, who can install systems for your varied nations to grow and prosper economically and leave corruption in the dust. I know this is a tall and albeit simplified idea, but it has been proven to be effective in Eastern Europe, China and several other once oppressed regions. Is it not worth a try as an antidote to what is currently taking place. No more destruction is needed. Mutual respect for all is in order. And finally as I report to my readers here weekly, be very skeptical of any and all leaders and do not blindly follow them. We know where this road takes us.

We, my middle eastern friends, have our share of problems as well but perhaps not as bad as what you face. I bet if we sit and talk we can resolve much as we all are more in sync than most would care to admit. Having many friends from your region over the decades, I know it can be done. Maybe that  too is a problem. Our leaders do the talking, not us. Let the destruction end and peace will surely follow. A welcome position for the earth. After all, no one is perfect.
